Showered With Love
My face in the above photo says it all! As per usual, my family went above and beyond to throw me the most amazing baby shower ever. There wasn’t a detail overlooked or a flower out of place. Everything was planned to perfection and I feel so lucky that this was my baby shower. Jax is one lucky boy. This week’s blog is dedicated to all things baby shower! From the Glam Squad that got us ready to the many DIY decor projects. I am going to share all of the details with you so you can recreate some of these great ideas for your next shower. I’m also going to share my top 5 favorite shower gifts 🙂
The Glam Squad. To start off our day, we were fortunate enough to work with this amazing company, The Glam Squad. If you are not already familiar with The Miami Glam Squad then you should be! A group of incredibly talented hair and makeup artists come to your home for a complete glam session. Convenience aside, I think every woman wants to feel like a celebrity once in a while. From the moment they got to our home, they made us feel pampered from head to toe. The entire process was stress free and we were able to actually enjoy ourselves. We weren’t running around from salon to salon trying to cram it all in. All of the services were done in tandem and I was finished within an hour. I felt totally relaxed and would highly recommend my friends and family using them for their next big event! This type of service is absolutely perfect for weddings. You have the ability to hire your entire hair and makeup team as a unit with the added advantage of knowing they already work so well together. I know when I was planning my wedding, that was difficult for me to find. They also told me they are introducing a nail service which would provide you with everything you could possibly need for a big event. We are definitely looking forward to working with them again! I couldn’t have asked for a better way to start my day.
The Decor. 3 bridal showers and 3 baby showers later, my mom has officially hung up her badge! With three daughters who all have been married and had babies over the past 6 years, she is officially done with her shower duties. Hands down my mom is one of the most creative women I know! Luckily with her background in floral arranging, she can turn any room into the most serene and beautiful space you have ever seen. Of course us sisters do our best to help her, but she basically takes over and puts her motherly stamp on every inch of the room. Here are some of my favorite photos of the room decor. Below I will give you more details on how you too can accomplish this.
So gorgeous! We are lucky because my mom does all of the floral arranging herself, but there are some aspects here that you can use for your own events. I absolutely loved the use of planter boxes and watering cans as the flower vases. So unique and different! Simple to do and you can buy them at any Michaels or Home Goods store near you. The addition of the moss underneath the arrangements was the perfect touch. The little metal baby carriages were displayed on the first table when you walked in and they were filled with adorable blue polka dotted umbrellas as the party favor. I love getting a favor that I am actually going to use and I may have taken a few of those home with me! And what’s cuter than those little boy rain boots with flowers in them? Just another idea for a center piece that is creative and fun. Very simple and easy to do.
It’s no surprise my son’s name will be Jax. My husband and I are in love with his name and I think my family knows that. Of course right in the center of the room was his name displayed in the most adorable way. My mom and sisters found these awesome vintage marquee light up letters at Michaels. The navy and white printed background is actually just paper that they cut out from a stencil. They glued them in and created their own look. So creative and goes perfectly with the colors in his room now!
My mother in law handmade blue and white boy themed chocolates that were dispersed throughout the tables which was another amazing detail to the party. Everything from top to bottom was hand crafted and done with so much thought and love. I truly am one lucky girl to have a family like this.
What I Wore. The best store to get your shower dress at if you are pregnant is BCBG. I found so many dresses that fit me just perfectly. That’s not a sentence you would commonly hear from a 8 month pregnant girl. It’s true though. They have beautiful dresses that are flowy enough to fit over your big belly and gorgeous patterns and colors that are perfect for a shower. This is the dress I wore. LOVE IT!
