Á la Florida
Every house has a room that you are going to “get to” designing. A room that has so much potential, but unfortunately has become the home for boxes of outgrown clothes, Christmas decorations, and kid’s art projects. At my house, that room was the foyer at the front entrance to our home. Each time I would take on a different decorating project, the foyer became the dumping ground for the give away piles and old furniture. This year I made a New Year’s resolution that I would finally “get to” that room. I was dedicated to creating an entry space that gives the perfect first impression of our home and family. When Framebridge offer to help create the perfect photo gallery, I couldn’t wait to get started.
Whenever I start a new project in my home, I create a inspiration board. Polyvore.com has an amazing tool to “pin” and collect all your ideas to create a inspiration board filled with all the furniture and accessories that you are interested in purchasing for your project. It allows you see how different fabrics, colors and products come together. Our foyer was originally an enclosed front porch. It had beautiful exposed beams on the ceiling and walls that we painted a crisp white color. During a large renovation of our home, we ripped out the original floors and replaced them with a white and gray checkerboard print. So when I was searching for inspiration, I came across the photo below and it inspired me to create a sunroom in the foyer. I love how the greenery played off checkerboard print.
Once I knew I was going to transform the space into a Florida room, I went on the search for the most perfect chairs. There is nothing that says old Florida like wicker furniture. I found these gorgeous black peacock chairs. I kept the color palate neutral with accents of black, white, green, and gold. I knew we were going to have a wall of pictures, so I found some vintage cameras to compliment the photography.
The only request my husband had was that he wanted to hang pictures up of our family. He has always wanted to create a photo gallery and with Framebridge’s help, I was able to do that for him. Framebridge is an incredible service that allows you to upload your pictures or art, pick the perfect frame, and have it sent to your house within 10 business days. The website allows you to preview your piece in different frame styles, or get a recommendation from one of their designers. Once you decide on a frame, they will custom build your frame within 2 – 3 days of receiving your piece, and then ship it to your door, free of charge. I choose the Providence frame because I was using gold and black as accent colors. They have so many beautiful frames to choose from.
Thank you again Framebridge for partnering with me on this project. Their complimentary design team was amazing to work with. I love walking into my home and being surrounded by pictures of my family. Framebridge was generous enough to offer our followers 15% off their first purchase with the promo code foverfreckled15. Hope this motivated you to design your “get to” room.
