Denim 4 Ways

I am back to doing what I love the most…talking about fashion! Everyone knows how much I love my denim shirts. It’s sort of a running joke in my family how often I wear them. I’ll tell you why I love them so much. They can be so versatile and an easy piece to style in a variety of ways. Whether you are pairing it with a cute textured short or going for the rather daring denim on denim ensemble…you have so many options to choose from. This type of shirt is also something that can be worn throughout all four seasons. As long as you are putting together an appropriate look for the weather you live in, you won’t look out of place.

I wanted to put together a blog for our FF readers to see how you can take one item from your wardrobe (the denim shirt) and wear it for 4 separate occasions. One of the questions I get the most from friends and family is how to create cohesive and stylish outfits from items you already have in your closet. Sometimes you don’t need to go out shopping if you feel bored with what you already have in your closet (alison wink wink lol). Just take some time and work with what you own. Try things on in a way you normally wouldn’t.

Below I have taken one item and shown you how to reinvent it for different occasions.

Dinner With Friends and Work Event

For my dinner with friends look, I went with something casual and stylish. Yet, it still has a dressed up flare to it. I love the comfy oversized sweater layered on top of the denim shirt. This is a bit more funkier but I think it’s perfect for a nice dinner out with your girlfriends. Add a great bold pump with a fun purse. The floppy hat pulls it all together with a pop of this pretty fall color.

For my work event look, I wanted to go with something stylish yet conservative. I love a denim shirt tucked in to a pencil skirt. I think it’s chic and sophisticated and gives off a very powerful look. Neutrals are very on trend this fall, so I went with a beige skirt that has a cool texture to it. Add a little excitement with a printed clutch and some bold gold jewelry. A peep toe bootie is my favorite style to pair with a pencil skirt.

Date Night and Casual Lunch

For my date night look, I paired the denim top with one of my favorite things to wear from my closet…a denim shirt tucked in to a high waisted short. Advantage…high waisted pieces always make your legs look longer! Stick with some unique evening accessories like this embellished clutch and a cool statement necklace. I’m really in to maroon this fall so I love the accent of this jewel tone color in to my outfits. Try a pump that has a thicker heel like the one above. They are much easier to walk in and they look great with almost anything.

For my casual lunch look, I went with a denim on denim ensemble. Always remember when you are pairing denim on denim you have to mix with contrasting colors. Lighter on top and darker on bottom. To add a little sparkle, I paired this look with a really cute gold sneaker, chunky ivory scarf, thin gold belt and a simple beige cross body bag. The belt is key because it will help break up your denim so don’t forget that item.
