What to Wear to a Summer BBQ Party!
Happy Memorial Day everyone! This is officially the kick off to the summer and I am so excited for what is in store over the next few months. We have so many great things planned for the blog and of course my little man is due in less than 10 weeks. So crazy!
As per usual, Alison has prepared a fun and exciting Memorial Day BBQ at her home for our friends and family. BBQ’s are my all time favorite. It gives us time to hang out together, eat delicious food and enjoy the beautiful Florida weather! I can always rely on Al and Rob to put together and host an amazing party for us all.
Our BBQ parties tend to be an all day affair. Hanging by the pool, enjoying some lunch and at the end of the day we finish off with a big cookout. So I always come prepared with a change of clothes and obviously a few other options. You have to be prepared, right!?
This week I put together a collage of what I would wear/bring to a typical summer BBQ. If I wasn’t 7.5 months pregnant, I would definitely be sporting some of these looks today. Maybe next year!
Since Florida is so unbelievably hot and humid, shorts are always a great go to for me and they can be extremely versatile! My sister Katie loves to wear heels and I love to wear flats. If you wear shorts the right way you can style them in multiple ways. Dress them down during the day and dress them up for dinner in the evening. As for bathing suits, don’t be afraid of a great one piece. There are so many chic styles and bold prints to choose from. You don’t always have to rock the bikini. I love one pieces because they always provide more coverage for my chest.
One of my favorite items to wear to a BBQ is a loose fitting fringe kimono. It really is the perfect coverup. And if you don’t get it soaking wet, you can wear it throughout the day and to dinner. It’s a fun and easy piece to throw on to add a little more style to your look.
Don’t forget your floppy hat! I know my sisters and I rarely go to a pool party without a big hat. Our freckles and fair skin need a bit more protecting. Be adventurous with costume jewelry. You can even throw on a funky bold necklace to go with with your bathing suit. It won’t look out of place and can really pull your outfit together.
I hope everyone has an amazing Memorial Day weekend. Create great memories with all your friends and family. And a special thanks to all the brave men and women who have served our country!
Especially our heroic and wonderful grandfather, Irving Birken who fought bravely in WWII. We miss you xo!
