Island Getaway Essentials

Hi Everyone!

It’s that time of year when you stalk on Facebook and get jealous of all your friends jetting out of town on their holiday beach vacations. Since I live in Florida year round, I can’t really complain or be too envious, but I wouldn’t mind taking a few days off to sit on the beach and sip pina coladas. My husband and I planned a short trip in February for our birthdays and I am already thinking about all the fun things I want to buy for our cruise. We are stopping in Jamaica and one other private island so of course I need to have my beach essentials packed and ready to go.

Since so many people are escaping the winter and heading out to the beach, I thought I would write today’s blog on some fun island gear that will get you started as you pack for vacation. I hope everyone has an amazing New Years! Can’t wait for an even better 2016!

Herschel Suitcase: When you first begin packing you need to start with a great suitcase. I love Herschel bags. We just bought the guys in our family Herschel duffles for Xmas. This suitcase is well made and I love the soft top. Black is always a great choice because your luggage will get beat up throughout its journey.

Comfy T-shirt Dress: I have about a million comfy t-shirt dresses. The great thing about a dress like this is how versatile it is. You can wear it over a bikini or throw on a cute wedge and wear it for dinner at night. Plus, cotton t-shirt material is extremely light weight and airy for humid tropical weather.

Soludos Espadrille Sandal: Love this brand. They have tons of options if you are looking for an espadrille. I personally love this tie up style. Screams vacation to me!

Flight 001 Clean’Wet Swimsuit Travel Bag: They have lots of options for travel bags. I always love being prepared when going on vacation. I usually travel with a lingerie bag and a laundry bag. And if I’m traveling to the beach, I will bring a wet bikini bag like this.

Mara Hoffman Maxi Dress: Bring one amazing show stopping maxi dress. Mara Hoffman is the perfect designer for vacation attire. They always have great airy material combined with beautiful prints and colors.

Low Tank Coverup: This is just a simple and easy coverup to throw on over your bathing suit. Victoria Secret has a huge assortment of cover ups! I always go to them to shop for swimwear.

Bikini Mixer from Victoria’s Secret: I love that they created this bikini mixer on their site! They are the best at letting you mix and match your swimsuits. This application makes it so much easier to do and you get to see your top and bottom matched up! Love it.

S’Well Bottle: A must have. Will keep your drinks on that warm beach super cold. I hate sitting on the beach and getting sand in my watery warm drink.

Crossbody Bag: You are on vacation so you really don’t need to bring much with you when you go out for the evening. A room key, lip gloss and your phone. So keep your hands free and keep it casual. Rebecca Minkoff has some really cute cross body bags!

Schutz Gladiator Sandals: This brand is everything. I love the way they design shoes. A gladiator sandal is perfect for the beach. Dress it up or dress it down. These are worth the money for sure.

Free People Cutoffs: I have a few pairs of jean shorts from Free People. I really love the way they fit. Even though they may be a bit more expensive than Urban Outfitters, the quality certainly stands out.

Long Champ Expandable Travel Bag: Long Champ has been a brand that will always be around for their amazing quality and style. I love this new expandable travel bag which is perfect to bring to the airport! Lots of room for all your goodies.

Mara Hoffman One Piece Reversible Swim Suit: Obsessed! I love one pieces and I think this one is stunning. The colors, the fit, the versatility. It really has everything wrapped up in to one swim suit.

Embroidered Tunic: Perfect to throw on over your suit. You don’t want to get coverups that are too clingy. I love the embroidery and style. Will let air flow in and out easily. Love the navy as well. Would look amazing paired with a hot pink or coral bikini.

Ruffle Cover Up:  Super cute ruffle cover up dress. Another really easy piece to pack and throw on over your suit. Great soft material and cute off the shoulder design.
