Captiva Island…Exploring the Islands of Florida!

Are you looking for an amazing place to bring the family that is great for the kids, easy for the parents, and still takes your breath away?  The cutest little island off the west coast of Florida is hands down Captiva Island. My sisters and I had the chance to get away for a quick overnight trip and visit the adorable island. Colorful fences, amazing food, wild dolphins…this was truly a trip to remember, and we only spent 2 days there!  We cannot wait to bring the entire family and all the kids for a full week!

We stayed in a 3 bedroom villa at the South Seas Resort.  It was a beautiful resort with a stunning pool area where we spent most of our time. The pool overlooks the ocean where we saw wild dolphins swimming and jumping, and magnificent birds.  There is also a separate pool with waterslides for the kids that we cannot wait to try out when we come back with our entire family.  The island is lined with incredible homes that are just walking distance from the beach, local stores, and restaurants! Renting a house with your family is a great way to make your vacation economical while enjoying all the islands amenities.

One of our favorite activities was renting bikes ($10 dollars for the day) and exploring the island.  They have child seats for the kids if they are not riding bikes yet. We stopped for margaritas at the cutest Mexican café, explored the most magnificent homes on the water, and took a walk on the beach where wild dolphins were swimming a few feet away from us.

Here are a few places to try during your vacation on Captiva Island:

The Mucky Duck for lunch or dinner.

The Bubble Room for dinner.

Cantina Captiva for MARGARITAS!

Yolo Watersport Rentals for bike and water sport rentals.

Chloe’s of Captiva for shopping, of course!

RC otters is great for brunch.

We absolutely love living in South Florida and enjoying the beach, palm trees and warm weather, but it is always fun to explore other nearby areas and feel like you are on vacation.  Captiva Island was so wonderful and we just cannot wait to come back with the kids.  Happy traveling!
