5 Tips for No Fuss, Easy Charcuterie Boards
The key word here is “easy.” These trays are certainly easy to put together. But just a few tips will go a long way to making your charcuterie board look almost too good to dig into!
Tip #1
This first tip is really the game changer for making sure your board is super easy to assemble. Use a Lazy Susan as your base!
Being able to rotate the board as you fill in gaps makes it easier to assemble all your ingredients while keeping things looking neat and attractive.
Tip #2
Add depth and visual interest by using different containers, like bowls and mason jars, to add height. You can also cut cheese, fruits, and veggies into different shapes to add interest. Have fun with it!
Tip #3
Cured meats are the way to go when you’re assembling an appetizer tray that will sit out for a while. I include a variety of deli meats, like salami and prosciutto, to play to different guests’ tastes.
One of my favorite parts of my tray is the salami roses I made. Check out the video below to see how those came together!
For the Halloween version, candy is king! Anything covered in chocolate (think pretzels, Oreos, crackers) is perfect for this type of themed charcuterie board. We used Halloween Oreos, eyeball gumballs, and all the candy corn we could find!
Tip #4
For a traditional board, I recommend having a selection of both hard cheeses and soft cheeses for guests. And pairing the right crackers, chips, breadsticks, or pretzels with those cheeses is essential. So make sure you have a full array on hand!
If you want to add even more flare to your board to keep with your holiday theme, look for crackers or chips in various colors – like orange for Halloween. You can find such a variety of fun, eye catching items these days!
Tip #5
I like to fill in the gaps with lots of colorful fruits, veggies, and nuts! For a more traditional board, I used raw carrots, green grapes, cucumbers, and tomato slices between cheese to really brighten up my charcuterie board.
You could also use figs, strawberries, or blueberries in the summer and cranberries or pears in the winter. Keep it seasonal, fun, and so delicious!
For the Halloween version, citrus fruits and bananas are great additions!
