Did you know that periodontal disease, caused by bacteria in dental plaque that builds up on the teeth and gums, is one of the most common and overlooked disease in veterinary medicine? I have been seeing a lot of patients in the emergency room with complaints of cough and fever. Parents always want a prescription for a medication to alleviate the cough. The reality is that buckwheat honey is proven to work better than prescribed or over-the-counter cough suppressant. I love this DIY recipe for homemade cough syrup. Remember children under the age of one can not have honey and always ask your pediatrician before introducing something new to your child.
