Tips For The Week!

Alison’s Tip

Both the U.S. and the UN have expressed grave concern about the Zika outbreak in the Americas. On February 1st, 2016, The WHO (World Health Organization) officially declared the Zika virus a public health emergency of international concern and this is only the fourth time in 10 years that this announcement has been made.  For all my pregnant ladies and couples who are planning on becoming pregnant in the near future, I highly recommend mosquito control repellents (such as OFF or Repel) daily and multiple times a day.  Wear long sleeves and pants, stay away from mosquito ridden areas as much as possible, and do not travel to areas of high alert.  It’s always best to be proactive and careful, especially with mosquito season around the corner.  All mosquito repellents with ingredients DEET, picaridin, or IR3535 are safe for pregnant women.  Oil of lemon eucalyptus (para-menthane-diol) products are also safe but most don’t last as long. Citronella products are safe but don’t last as long.

Katie’s Tip

Parents are always asking me at what age and what Q-tip to use to clean their child’s ear. The answer is you should never clean your child’s ear with a Q-tip! Although ear wax can be gross, it is actually protects your child’s ear from infection. You can cover your index finger with a washcloth and gently wash the outside ear canal. As they get older, teach your child to wash their ear canal with their little finger during bath time. Although tempting, placing a Q-tip in your child’s ear can actually cause damage to the eardrum. If your child produces a lot of ear wax, talk to your pediatrician about ear drops.

See you Wednesday!

Carrie’s Tip

I love a good arm party! I love them even more when you can buy them as a set. Panacea and Bourbon & Boweties are two of my favorite brands for costume jewelry. They make bright, bold and fun pieces. They always make an outfit stand out without even trying. Here are a few of my favorites that will most definitely add that extra boldness and excitement to your look.

  1. My Granddaughter and I attended the meeting at Babies R Us last night. We would like to thank you for the valuable information. I know it helped Britany with many of the questions she may have had. Today she said to me “I had no idea I had to take special care of the belly button.” Therefore having several To be Moms together asking questions helps all. Britany lives in Oklahoma or else I know she would want you as her pediatrician. Hopefully she will find one as well informed and friendly as you are. Thanks again.

    1. Thank you so much. We love offering information and helping parents. This is why we started Forever Freckled and appreciate the feedback. Thank you again for coming to the lecture and for the comments. We are so appreciative.
