Tips For The Week

Alison’s Tip

Never Give Pets People Medication- Although many of the medications we use in veterinary medicine are the same ones people use, there are a number of drugs that are dangerous for your pets. NSAIDs like ibuprofen and naproxen are the most common pet poisoning culprits, but antidepressants, decongestants, muscle relaxants, and acetaminophen are just a few of the human drugs that pose health risks to pets. Never assume certain medications are safe for your pet.  ALWAYS consult with your veterinarian before giving your pet any medications that are not prescribed.

Katie’s Tip

I have been seeing a lot of patients in the emergency room with complaints of cough and fever. Parents always want a prescription for a medication to alleviate the cough. The reality is that buckwheat honey is proven to work better than prescribed or over-the-counter cough suppressant. I love this DIY recipe for homemade cough syrup. Remember children under the age of one can not have honey and always ask your pediatrician before introducing something new to your child. See you Wednesday!

Carrie’s Tip

I can curl my hair in less than 5 minutes and today I am going to share this amazing tip with you.  I do a quick beach wave only on  the bottom of my hair and it looks like I got my hair blown out. Here is a great tutorial on how to get a simple beach wave with a hair straightener! I  like how my hair comes out even more with a straightener than with an actual curling iron.
