Alison’s Tip

Knives are your most important tools in the kitchen and are definitely neglected.  Here are some great tips on taking proper care of your knives;

• Hand wash your knives- never put them in the dishwasher.  The dishwasher is too harsh and will destroy your knives- always wash,hand dry them, and place them away.
• Avoid using your knife to scrape up ingredients after you finished chopping- I know, I do this all the time and it scratches and dulls the blade.  Either turn the knife around and use the dull edge or use a scraper.
• Sharpen regularly- It is always recommended to have your knives sharpened professionally at a specialty store, but in between you can sharpen them at home- here is a quick, easy video on how to sharpen your knives at home.

Katie’s Tip

It is Super Bowl Sunday! If you are planning on hosting a party or just want to have some time to enjoy the game yourself, you need to keep the kids busy. A craft table is a quick and easy way to keep the children distracted while you enjoy the game. Another cute idea is Super Bowl Bingo. Create a bingo card with different things seen during the football game and commercials. It is a great way to keep the kids engaged and entertained. Have fun tonight and be safe!

Carrie’s Tip

Don’t know what to get your significant other for Valentine’s day, I love this idea. Create 12 pre-arranged and pre-paid dates. Wrap each one up in a package and tie them all together. Since it is already paid for, it forces you to take a much needed break from the grid of life and enjoy your significant other.
