Easy Peasy Pastels

Pastels are your quintessential spring colors. During the winter, my go to is always black. But when spring time comes along, it’s time to look bright, colorful and well…SPRINGY!

I think a lot of people are scared of light colors because they assume that it will make them look bigger. People think wearing black has a slimming effect and makes for a more flattering appearance. Yes, some of the times this can be true, but there are ways to wear pastels or lighter colors and feel just as amazing. Many people also assume that pastels can be too feminine. Again, not always true! Mix it up a bit and pair a more feminine piece with something that has a little edge. Funky and feminine have always been a favorite combo of mine. Florals with studs, a light silky blouse with a thicker chic leather jacket…combos like that.

If you want to give the pastel trend a try, but you don’t know where to start, you can always begin with accessories…a nude bag, a light pale green pump, or some pretty pastel jewelry to accent your outfit. Another easy way to give it a try is to invest in a couple pairs of light hued denim. Pale yellow or light pink jeans are another perfect way to start.

Below I am also showing you two ways to wear pastels. The skinny jeans look on the left is a great dinner outfit. It’s perfect for a first date or a fun night out with friends. The jean shorts outfit on the right is your day outfit, but this look can be versatile depending on the occasion. The dressier elements can take you from day to night easily, so pop on a pump and you are good to go!
