Hey Loves! I hope everyone is having a great week. When my sisters and I decided to create Forever Freckled, I went straight into doctor mode. When you train to become a physician, one of the first things you are taught is the importance of studying and research. So much so that the importance of studying and research tends to carry over into other aspects of your life. Forever Freckled was no exception. I immediately starting studying different blogs, determining what made them successful, and learning what I liked and disliked. I found that all the blogs I loved had one thing in common, their founders or authors had beautiful work spaces. So of course, I needed a great work space myself! I think sometimes a chic office space is the last thing we think about but in reality it should be one of the first, especially if you work from home. It is a place to get away, get inspired, grow, create, and learn. So today I am going to share some of the tips I learned when I created my home office!

A great desk– A sleek beautiful desk can become a statement piece in any room. There are so many creative ways for storage that you don’t need a chunky oversized desk with a filing system. I was able to create my desk space for under $500. When looking at inspirational photos and creating a pin board, I was drawn to a white glossy look. I love white furniture because it creates a fresh and timeless look. I found a painter who was able to add a high gloss finish to the desk at a low cost. It is important to shop around and get quotes ahead of time. You don’t want to buy a piece of furniture just to discover that it is more expensive to paint than it is to simply buy the desk you love. The trick is not to change the color of the furniture, but to add a high gloss finish. Wayfair and Overstock have great and affordable options. Don’t forget to look for additional sale promos and coupons online before you purchase your desk.

Beautiful hardware–  I changed out the handles not only on my new desk, but also on my nursery furniture, built-ins, and bathroom vanities!  It is a quick and easy way to make your furniture piece look more unique and expensive. I love Anthropology, they have amazing handles and knobs. Just make sure that when buying new handles, you measure the distance between the points of where the nails are drilled in. Otherwise, you may see the hole where the old handle used to sit.

Amazing chair– Get creative! This is the perfect opportunity to incorporate accent colors and introduce patterns. I bought a gold Chiavari chair and love the way it played off the mint green walls. There are so many fun options – Ghost chair, fun color, or upholstered chair.

Fun accessories– I painted the walls a gorgeous mint green and decided to accessorize with gold accents and other items that inspired me. I love mixing old and new! You will frequently find me in antique stores looking for unique accent pieces. They are always great conversation pieces.

I hope these tips help to motivate you to create a new work space that inspires you to be great! See you next Wednesday!
